WordCamp Sylhet 2026 brought the WordPress community back to the Tea Capital of Bangladesh. The third edition took place on October 2 and 3 at the Central Auditorium of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet, and contributors, developers and WordPress enthusiasts spent two days contributing, learning and connecting. Around 150 attendees joined the contributor tables on day one.
The direction of the event was as clear as the numbers. Across the Conference Day talks, the panel on stage, the expo area and the conversations in between, the questions kept coming back to how AI is changing the way WordPress is built, shipped and supported. The program felt built for substance, and it gave those questions room.
xCloud, a Startise company, joined as a Platinum Sponsor with three speakers on the program, a booth that stayed busy from start to finish and a $5,000 Mega Giveaway that kept the energy high all day. xCloud Co-Founder M Asif Rahman, Co-Founder Nazmul Hasan Rupok and Startise’s Head of Support and Product Khan Rafin Ahmed took the stage, while Linkon Miyan led the Core table on Contributor Day.

How WordCamp Sylhet 2026 Was Structured
The event ran in two parts, with a contribution day first and a conference day second.

Contributor Day (October 2) put around 150 contributors at working tables instead of in front of presentations. The work ranged from bug fixes in Core to new patterns from the Patterns Team, and code, writing, design, translation and testing all had a place at the table.
Conference Day (October 3) ran from morning to evening with talks, panel discussions and an expo area and AI ran through the Conference Day schedule. The program felt built for substance.
The green SUST campus in Kumargaon sits a short ride from the tea gardens that made Sylhet famous. WordCamp Sylhet first came to the city in 2023 and returned in 2024, so this third edition marked another return to the Tea Capital.
What xCloud Presented on AI at WordCamp Sylhet 2026

The three xCloud sessions looked at one question from different angles: how is AI changing the way WordPress teams plan, build, ship and support their products? Each session covered a different layer of that shift.
AI and modern workflows (panel). xCloud Founder, M Asif Rahman, joined MD Ershadur Rahman Talukder and Shahjahan Jewel on stage to discuss how AI is changing the way teams plan, build and ship, with practical lessons from people who have spent years building WordPress products in Bangladesh.
“From Plugins to Agents: Rethinking WordPress Architecture for AI” (talk). xCloud Co-Founder, Nazmul Hasan Rupok, walked through how the building blocks of WordPress shift as AI agents arrive. His tip for plugin developers: instead of building a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server from scratch, register an ability through the WordPress Abilities API so any MCP client can use it. The Abilities API is a WordPress API that lets a plugin describe what it can do in a standard way, so AI tools can discover and call it.
“Customer Support, Reimagined: How AI Agents and MCP Empower Teams to Do More” (talk). Head of Support and Product, Khan Rafin Ahmed, shared how AI agents and MCP help support teams handle more, and where customer support is heading.
Questions from the room followed each session. Thank you to everyone who joined and asked them.
Fast Speed Challenge: How It Worked & Who Won
The Fast Speed Challenge ran at the xCloud booth as a race against the clock where accuracy mattered as much as speed. Attendees took part for a chance to win the $5,000 Mega Giveaway, which was the talk of the xCloud booth.

More than 20 contestants made the final leaderboard. Two finished with a perfect 100% accuracy and zero errors, and all five winners completed the challenge in under two minutes.
The top five winners of the xCloud Mega Giveaway at WordCamp Sylhet 2026:

At the xCloud Booth
The booth backdrop read “Next Gen Hosting Built for WordPress, AI Agents and Any Apps,” and the conversations covered hosting, WordPress and AI. xCloud users stopped by to share what they are building and what they want next, and new visitors came to find out what xCloud is.

What We Took from Our Sessions
WordCamp Sylhet 2026 offered valuable perspectives on how AI is changing the WordPress ecosystem. From product development to plugin capabilities and customer support, the discussions highlighted how new technologies are shaping everyday workflows. Three key takeaways stood out from the sessions.

1. AI Is Moving from Feature to Workflow
AI is becoming part of the entire product development process, from planning and building to testing and shipping. The panel highlighted how teams can bring AI into their daily workflows to simplify repetitive tasks, make faster decisions and improve collaboration.
This shift also changes how developers approach product development, helping them focus more on solving real problems and delivering useful solutions. For businesses working in the WordPress ecosystem, the opportunity lies in making AI a practical part of how products work, how teams operate and how users achieve their goals.
2. Plugins Are Becoming Abilities Agents Can Use
WordPress plugins have traditionally helped users extend their websites through dashboards, settings pages and familiar admin interfaces. With AI agents entering the picture, plugins are gaining new possibilities. Through technologies such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI agents can interact with tools, access relevant information and perform supported tasks through natural language instructions.
This opens up new ways to manage websites, configure settings and handle repetitive operations. The discussion pointed toward a future where plugin developers need to consider how both people and AI agents will use their products, making plugin capabilities more accessible across different workflows.
3. Support Is Becoming AI-Assisted
Customer support is another area where AI and MCP are creating new opportunities. Hosting companies often handle recurring questions about website performance, server configuration, troubleshooting and routine maintenance. AI-assisted workflows can help support teams retrieve relevant information, investigate issues and handle common requests more efficiently.
MCP adds another layer by allowing compatible AI assistants to interact with connected tools and services. This can help support teams spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time addressing complex customer needs. For hosting providers such as xCloud, these developments offer a practical direction for improving support workflows and making website management easier for customers.
xCloud & Startise at WordCamp Sylhet 2026
xCloud, a Startise company, took part as a Platinum Sponsor, and its team spent the two days in conversations with users, contributors, speakers and fellow sponsors. xCloud Founder M Asif Rahman, Co-Founder Nazmul Hasan Rupok and Head of Support and Product Khan Rafin Ahmed shared their thoughts on stage, and Linkon Miyan led the Core table on Contributor Day. xCloud was recognized on the main stage alongside the other Platinum Sponsors.
